Ebb ‘N Flow – 2019

The fluid shapes of fish was an idea I wanted to explore, Ebb ‘n Flow are the result.
Mounting was once again an issue. We went through all sorts of options. Initially they were going to be wall mounted in a type of yin and yang position but when completed this didn’t look right.
I liked the idea of them swimming along in the current together, hence the name Ebb ‘n Flow, so worked on that.

On a walk in Marbury Park with Amber and friends I found and interesting lump of “stuff” which later turned out to be what I think is iron smelt. Subsequently I found a further piece. Cleaned up, they resemble coral and mounted on polished granite make a great natural looking base for the fish. Mounting each of the fish onto the base with a single reinforcement rod means they aren’t set rigidly in the base and this adds movement in the finished piece.
Martin was a big fan of the fish so they are now his.
