Kudu (AKA Nefertiti) – 2019

I wanted to twist a horned animal. The graphic shapes of the horns appealed and would make a dramatic shape. Sue thought a Kudu would be rather nice. I liked the idea and got busy.
The reverse twist of the horns proved quite challenging, but encouraged by Jess and Martin I kept going and got there in the end.
A mount was found in the cellar, a glass and chrome speaker stand and the piece was completed.
As time progressed “the kudu” kept being referred to as “ my kudu” by Sue. A birthday deal was struck, a twist for a painting. Sue has her kudu and I am now the proud owner of a beautiful oil painting by a very special and talented friend, John Clark.

Hi Sally. I work with Sue. I’ve just seen your Kudu on her Insta feed. I would love to chat about a wall-mounted Oryx if you think you could achieve the facial markings (it’s my most favourite of Namibian wildlife). Thanks, Shona
Hi Shona
The oryx are beautiful, very striking.
As you will see from my other twists, I cannot replicate markings, the pieces depend on the shapes of the animals head and horns rather than colouring.
At the moment I make pieces that I can envisage rather than doing commissions, if that changes in the future I will of course let you know.
Thank you for your interest.
Sally
