Do you believe in fate?

We had recently enjoyed a holiday in Cornwall and had seen several artworks depicting seahorses.
With their distinctive curled tails and long snouts I thought they would make an ideal subject to twist. And so it was one morning in early September, I suddenly had the urge to go to the studio and twist.

The seahorses unique form, delicate fins and knobbly spines came together very quickly and Equus, Latin for horse, was soon completed.

Later that same week, I was speaking to a friend who said she had been meaning to ask me for a while if I had any pieces for sale. She was looking for a gift for a friends special birthday later in the month. 

I said I wasn’t sure if it would be suitable, but the only thing I did have was my recently completed seahorse. Equus was thought to be perfect, combining the friends two loves, horses and the beautiful Cornish coastline. 

I don’t know why I suddenly had the urge to twist a seahorse, but maybe it was fate!
