My brother Nick whittles. He has whittled hearts, swipes and quaich but mainly spoons. All are beautifully made in local woods,  I treasure the ones I have been given as gifts at various times. I loved receiving them and wanted to make something for him in return. With his 50th birthday approaching I made a start.

This little squirrel didn’t quite make it in time for his birthday but was delivered before his 51st!

The squirrel holds a larch cone from our garden in Sale. This is loose so it can be can swopped out for other items such a a nibbled walnut, a little carved heart or even a whittled spoon!
