So Jess thought Supernova was a bit big for her student house and requested something smaller. How she thought that a giraffe would be smaller than a horse I’m not too sure !!

It was no mean feat manipulating 3 foot of neck from the confines of my armchair, but what is a giraffe without its neck? And as for the spots!

Each spot was made from a wire ring shaped to form the irregular pattern of a giraffes hide.  A wire patch was attached, cut out and wrapped round the frame before each and every individual piece was twisted onto the structure of the neck. Further layers were then added to give the neck rigidity.  It was a big project in more ways than one and took many hours to complete.

As a large floor standing piece, I thought it would be great if it had some purpose and this spark of an idea became the light fitted into the base.
